I wanted to make a massage bar that helps with reducing inflammation. I was experimenting with different percentages to come up with the right texture and feel for this massage bar. This massage bar will melt into your skin and help with sore muscles. You just rub it into the skin and massage away with your hands.
The key ingredient used is turmeric powder that has been infused in olive oil. Turmeric has many skin benefits. It moisturizes the skin and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines. It does have a rich orange color so using too much can stain the skin. The curcumin in turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Kokum butter is a hard butter that can be used as a substitution for cocoa butter. But is not as hard as cocoa butter. It has moisturizing properties and can regenerate skin cells.
Beeswax gives the bar its firmness. It is a humectant that helps keep the skin moisturized and soft. Other benefits include anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-bacterial properties.
Jojoba Oil is similar to the sebum produce by our skin. It also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.
Lavender and Tea Tree essential oils also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
Oil Phase:
Kokum Butter | 32%
Beeswax | 32%
Turmeric Infused Olive Oil | 4.5%
Cool-Down Phase:
Lavender Essential Oil | 2%
Tea Tree Essential Oil | 1.5%
Vitamin E Oil | 1%
Prepare a water bath and heat the oil phase ingredients in a glass on low heat. Once you take the glass off the stove it starts to solidify. After it cools down a bit, add the cool-down ingredients. Pour the blend into a silicone mold to harden at room temperature.
