I wanted to make a simple hydrating body butter for my mature skin using fractionated coconut oil. Since beginning my DIY skincare journey, fractionated coconut oil has always been one of the many ingredients that I wanted to experiment with. It is good for all skin types, especially for dry and mature skin. And it does not clog pores.
Fractionated coconut oil is a light oil that absorbs quickly into the skin, deeply hydrates, leaving the skin soft and smooth without leaving a greasy feeling.
Fractionated coconut oil is coconut oil that has had its long chain fatty acids removed, which makes it a light liquid oil regardless of temperature. The fatty acids removed are myristic, lauric, and palmitic, which makes coconut oil solid at cool temperatures.
This body butter formulation turned out to be soft and smooth on my skin leaving a light non-greasy feeling.
