Because I still have some rose infusion left, I decided to make a rose body butter. I have been wanting to make this Rose Body Butter for quite some time. It has really been a joy learning to make my own skincare products, and I love making body butters.
Body butters are anhydrous so they don’t contain any water, unless you make an emulsified body butter. Because there is no water in this body butter, a preservative is not needed.
Because of the butters and oils used, there is a tendency for it to be greasy. I don’t mind the greasiness of body butter. There are ingredients to use to get rid of the greasy feeling. But, it does not bother me either way.
This nourishing moisturizing body butter is made with just 5 ingredients: rose clay/rose and pink petals infused in sunflower oil, shea butter, chia seed oil, vitamin e, and lavender essential oil.
Key Ingredient
Chia seed oil. Chia Seed Oil has antioxidant properties. It is rich in omega-3, and omega-6 fatty acids. Chia seed oil hydrates the skin, moisturizes the skin helping with dryness, and reducing the signs of aging. It rejuvenates the skin and is also anti-inflammatory, soothing irritated skin.
Chia seeds comes from the plant, Salvia hispanica, a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is also used in smoothies, cereal, and granola bars.
Heated Phase
Shea Butter 65%
Sunflower Infused Oil 29%
Chia Oil 5%
Cool-Down Phase
Vitamin E Oil 0.5%
Lavender Essential Oil 0.5%
I put the heated phase in a water bath on low heat. After the heated phase melted and cooled down a bit, I placed the bowl in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Whipped until I was happy with the consistency.
