I happen to love the winter season. I love watching the snow fall down from the sky. And, this is the only time of the year that I have a cup of cocoa to warm up. Cocoa has many benefits for the skin. It helps to protect the skin, and repair the skin from aging prematurely. It is also rich in antioxidants.
The additives that were added to make this cold process soap are Cocoa powder and Almond Biscotti fragrance oil. Not only does this soap lather beautifully, it smells wonderful. Your skin will thank you.
We know that our skin is the largest organ in our body. It does a lot. Think of it as a protective gear. It protects us from outside external factors such as the cold, the sun, it helps to prevents hydration, it helps to regulate our body temperature, and that’s just to name a few.
The three layers of the skin.
The Epidermis. The outer top layer of the skin. It renews itself about every 30 days. As we age, the renewal process may take longer. Skincare products are applied to this area.
The Dermis. It is the second layer of skin beneath the epidermis. It has blood vessels, sensory nerve endings, which allows us to feel pain, heat and cold, sweat glands, hair follicles, and nail roots. The components of the dermis are collagen and elastin. As we age, the dermis loses collagen and elastin, which results in wrinkles.
The Hypodermis (Subcutaneous). This is the third layer of the skin that is underneath the dermis. The fatty tissues help to insulates the body and protect it from injury. With aging, the fatty tissues get thinner leading to dry and sagging skin.
To keep our skin looking good it needs nourishment, inside and out. It is never too late to start loving and nourishing our skin.
